Kuala Langat bakal miliki taman tema ala Hollywood.

KUALA LANGAT, 12 APR: Kuala Langat bakal menjadi destinasi percutian keluarga apabila tiga taman tema tersohor, Universal Studio, Fox World dan Disney World siap dibina nanti.

Dato’ Menteri Besar, Amirudin Shari berkata, tiga taman tema itu dibina ekoran kawasannya yang strategik daripada sudut pembangunan di Selangor.

Katanya, Kerajaan Negeri sudah menerima beberapa permohonan daripada pemaju di sekitar sini bagi melaksanakan projek terbabit.

“Tiga taman tema itu bakal dibina di jajaran sebahagian Kota Kemuning sehingga berhampiran Sijangkang memandangkan ia antara kawasan pembangunan yang begitu pesat.

“Kuala Langat menerima pelbagai pembangunan baharu pada masa kini dan jika dilihat ia antara kawasan yang amat strategik untuk membangunkan taman tema,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditemui media selepas Majlis Penyampaian Sumbangan kepada Masjid dan Solat Jumaat, Masjid At-Taqwa, di sini, hari ini.

Beliau diminta mengulas berkenaan Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri (MMKN) yang dipengerusikannya pagi tadi di Pejabat Tanah dan Daerah Kuala Langat.

Sementara itu, Pegawai Daerah dan Tanah Kuala Langat, Mohd Jusni Hashim berkata, Kuala Langat bakal menjadi destinasi percutian keluarga ekoran pembinaan taman tema terbabit.

Katanya, keseluruhan pelaburan itu membabitkan kos lebih RM15 bilion dengan keluasan melebihi 800 ekar.

“Saya amat optimis projek ini diluluskan Pihak Berkuasa Negeri supaya ia dapat menjadi mercu tanda paling gah di Kuala Langat satu hari nanti.

“Oleh itu, memang layak daerah Kuala Langat dipilih sebagai The Most Prefrered Destination for Investment by District 2017-2018 anjuran Invest Selangor sekali gus bersesuaian dengan status bakal dinaik taraf kepada perbandaran,” katanya.

Airport to be built in Perlis, says MB

An airport will be built in Perlis as a catalyst to boost the state’s development, said Menteri Besar Azlan Man.

It would be built in Chuping, in line with the state government’s efforts to turn the area into a development hub, he said in his speech at the monthly assembly for civil servants in the state in Kangar today.

The text of the speech was read out by state secretary Romli Dai, who also launched the state-level Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.

He did not mention the cost of the proposed project, but said the airport would have landing facility for small aircraft to “facilitate local and foreign investors to come to the state”.

Azlan said he believed the presence of the aircraft would help to boost development in Perlis in line with efforts to turn it into a developed state.

LONDON, July 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is set to become a high-income developed nation as early as 2018, two years earlier than the targeted 2020, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The Prime Minister said Malaysia was on the right track to realise this target since the Government Transformation Programme and the Economic Transformation Programme had started to show significant successes.

"Worldwide ranking improvements have shown that Malaysia is moving up its position on the world ladder. The World Bank ranked us at number 12 in its Doing Business Report 2013.

"And, recent surveys show that Malaysia is in line to achieve a high-income developed nation status as early as 2018," he said in his speech at 'An Evening With the Prime Minister' with Malaysians in London, at the Intercontinental Hotel, in London Wednesday night.

Also present were Najib's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Malaysian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Datuk Seri Zakaria Sulong and Tourism Malaysia Ambassador Datuk Jimmy Choo.

Najib said this was not possible without the hard work of all Malaysians, be it at home or abroad.

"Malaysian diasporas are our assets who equally contribute to our progress at home," he said.

Najib called on Malaysians, especially those living abroad, to assist Malaysia by dispelling untrue reports on the country so that more people would invest in or visit Malaysia.

"Good words from you about Malaysia would be very good indeed. I am sure you have come across, on various occasions, friends and colleagues who have commented negatively about Malaysia. And it is your task, as a Malaysian, to put Malaysia back in good light.

"Your honest remarks shall put them into perspective on a how the country is doing.

"Nothing beats good press than the 70,000 Malaysians residing in the United Kingdom, saying good things about Malaysia," he said.

Najib hoped Malaysians abroad would always think about what they could do to contribute towards the socio-economic growth of the country and its people.

He said the government was committed to ensure a future laden with hope for every segment of the Malaysian society including the youth.

"We believe that the foundation of every state lies in the education of its youth," he said.

He said the government had also opened up the democratic process toward a more liberal system, for youths to excel and have their voices heard.

"The government will continue to engage the youth and include them as part of the process of nation building. This is imperative for the youths of today who will eventually take over the helm of leadership in the future," he added.

GREAT POTENTIAL: Capitalise on existing good infrastructure in nation, says minister

MALAYSIA has the  potential to become a data storage centre in the cloud computing industry, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He said Malaysia had the edge because existing infrastructure and the low possibility of natural disasters occurring in the country would encourage its growth.

"Malaysia's growth as a data storage centre should be encouraged, expanded and promoted because it has extensive space for data storage servers.

"This infrastructure is important because it enables data handling to be managed more effectively," he said after launching cloud computing service's AwanHeiTech Exchange 2013, organised by HeiTech Padu Bhd, here, yesterday.

He said operators of data storage facilities must boost the confidence of foreign companies in Malaysia's capability in the sector.

"We cannot depend on local companies alone without looking into raising the confidence of the international community in picking Malaysia as their cloud data storage centre.

"Thus, there are many things we need to look into, including issues of application and security -- whether data stored in Malaysia can be breached or hacked. These are the issues we need to work on to build up our image."

Ahmad Shabery also encouraged local companies to venture into this field.

So far, there are only five information and technology companies offering data storage services.

In a related development, Ahmad Shabery said he also planned to introduce cloud computing services to the Education Ministry to improve the learning and teaching process in schools. Bernama
